PAUL REED
No. 3 - 66.

Welded painted steel, 1966. 241x800 mm; 9 1/2x31 1/2 inches. Signed, titled and dated on the artist's vinyl label at the lower edge.

Provenance: Private collection, New York.

Briefly during the 1960s, Reed (1919-2015), an artist most associated with the Washington Color School and Color Field Painting, worked with his friend Bill Truitt, a welder, to create approximately 50 sculptures. Reed would design the works and Truitt would assemble them before Reed added the finishing touches.
