Although Scheurich was born in New York, he settled in Germany and became one of the preeminent poster artists of his generation. He was also involved in book illustration and set design for both theatre and film. Die Gartenlaube (the Arbour), magazine referred to itself as "the favorite of German families." The image is an exquisite depiction of Berlin's upper-class lifestyle. The elegant and well-dressed mother and daughter are strolling through a perfectly manicured garden in an enviable vision of bourgeois existence. DFP III 756.
