PAUL STRAND (1890-1976)
Tailor's Apprentice, Luzzara, Italy. 1953; printed 1994 by Sal Lopes.
Platinum print, the image measuring 8¼x6½ inches (21x16.5 cm.), the sheet 18x13 inches (45.7x33 cm.), with the Paul Strand Archive/Platinum print debossed stamp with Antony Montoya's signature and copyright date "1994" in pencil on recto.

This limited-edition platinum print was made from the original 5-by-7-inch negative by master printer Sal Lopes in consultation with Richard Benson, who worked closely with Paul Strand at the end of Strand's life. The image was printed on Crane's parchment paper hand coated with platinum and palladium salts in accordance with Strand's procedures. The text is set in Monotype Bembo and was designed by Susi Oberhelman.

No further photographic prints will be made from the negative used in reproducing Tailor's Apprentice, Luzzara, Italy, 1953, except for purposes of study, and none of the study prints will be offered for sale. This edition is limited to 150 numbered copies and 15 unnumbered artist's proofs. Each print bears the authorizing stamp and signature of the director of the Paul Strand Archive.
