Group of 5 Autograph Letters Signed, "W" or "WP" or "Waldo," each illustrated with a watercolor or graphite drawing on the original envelope, unsigned, to John Kelley ("Dear Jack"), on various topics. The drawings, nautical themes, 3 hasty watercolors and a small graphite sketch of a sea lion balancing a bottle on its nose, each drawn beside holograph address, two with holograph annotations or caption. Together 6 pages, 4to or 8vo, personal stationery or blank with punch holes; one letter with complete separation at fold, minor scattered soiling. [Searsport, ME, 1948-49]

1 December 1948: ". . . I have two oils here of Skipper K . . . Id be glad to send em to you . . . . My barn here is so full of a mis-spent pigmentary youth, middle age, not to say old age. . . . [H]ere I am 10 miles from the family bone yard . . . so any time they want to get rid of the body etc, they aint got too far to go . . . ."
13 December 1948: ". . . In the . . . tube containing yr 2 mugs--one with moustache . . . Hazel . . . can take her pick, if she can stand the original . . . & one on the wall in one life time.
". . . They are . . . good pictures, which pleases me, as I hate to give any one a lousy one . . . . [T]he fewer pictures I have the better for me . . . ."
