Pellew (1903-1993) was a Cornish painter best-known for his maritime studies. He first exhibited in 1934 and subsequently was included in many showings in both the United Kingdom and the United States (Corcoran, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Whitney, Brooklyn, Montclair, and others). The Metropolitan Museum acquired one of his works in 1938.
