first edition, with autograph letter signed by lord braybrooke, the book's editor laid in loose (8vo, one page, recto only, usual folds). Braybrooke's letter, dated 1834, discusses the loan of a packet of letters "found among the Cornwallis papers." Also inserted is a franked clipped address, dated 1829. Richard Griffin Neville, the third Baron Braybrooke is "chiefly remembered for the part he took in publishing Pepys's Diary for the first time" (DNB XIV, 298). Grolier 100; English 75; Sterling 674.
