Berlin's rapid rise to fame began in 1973 starring in the homoerotic feature film, Nights in Black Leather. Other similar films followed, but the trained photographer also began taking erotic photos of himself early on. He was and remained his only model and motif, constantly increasing his technical perfection and his forms of narcissistic self-expression.
