On the frame back is affixed the artist's typed label and the following type note: "8. Dispossessed (gouache). This was a painting in the series of pictures I did that was based on being...and who were forced to move from their homes through no wish of their own."
This work on paper is a very scarce, early work by this important contemporary South African artist - possibly one of the first to appear at auction here in the United States.
