Ewart studied as a commercial designer in both Montreal and New York City and designed his first poster for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1939. Ewart worked for the Railway for 20 years and created more than 24 different posters for the company, including a number of memorable ski images. Canadian Pacific p. 246, Art of Skiing p. 147.
