Additional Details

Jim Fouratt was an early LGBTQ+ activist and participated in the Stonewall Riots the summer of 1969. He was a founding member of Gay Liberation Front, the first post-Stonewall lesbian and gay activist organization. Fouratt was a founding member of HEAL and ACT UP, and also a founding board member of the New York Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center. At the time this photograph was taken he was in a romantic relationship with Peter Hujar.
