Strongly influenced by the Art-Nouveau movement of the 1890s, Peter Max was one of the originators of Psychedelic art in the 1960s, and, as proven by his colorful, decorative posters, certainly one of the movement's most prolific artists. From 1966 on, he published a series of images that played with fin-de-siecle artistic techniques and made reference to a variety of events and ideas that stemmed from current music, cinema, and cultural happenings in the era. All of his images are united by his trademark use of bright, psychedelic colors and swirling, free-flowing style, which provided a generation of Flower Children with an indispensable source of wall décor.
