This is an intriguing and charming turn-of-the-century poster in which absinthe is being touted in a very ambiguous and alluring manner. A doctor, pursuing a charming young beauty is being held at bay. "Drink up, you will see afterwards . . ." he says, in an intoxicating double-entendre. Although the word "health" is highlighted on the bottle for all to see, the viewer immediately realizes it is not the health benefits of the drink that this "doctor" is promoting. Absinthe p. 110, Reims 659.
