Reisman's subject matter often focused on the social conditions of the New York working-class. In this work he represents the daily labor of meat packers in New York's West End, a neighborhood infamous for its rough industry and poor working conditions that would ironically transform into the nucleus of Manhattan's gallery district in the decades to follow.
