Chapellier is credited with having designed a handful of posters at the turn of the century. Here he employs the "poster within a poster" technique to advertise a Boxing Day sale at a department store in Poitiers. Using a visual device perfected by Bouisset (in which the children are facing the wall with their backs to the viewer), he depicts four children who have stopped on the street to admire the image of a dancing clown, a tribute to Cheret, one little girl endearingly reaching out to touch it.
