In honor of the 125 anniversary of the Smeets Publishing concern this book was published "first and foremost [as] a guide and aid to those who, in some way or another have to do with printing" (p. 2). It is also, clearly, a sample book, to show the world what a vast and wonderful array of things Smeets is capable of printing. In the book, lavishly illustrated in full color, samples can be found of cigar labels, counter-cards, cut-outs, photographs, fold-outs, product labels and more. The image which the book is most famous for is Cassandre's Philips<> which was printed to be included in this spiral bound book and never appeared anywhere else.
