The intriguing image, from the "beguiling sloe-eyed Parisienne," to the "impertinent neckerchiefed newsboy," to the "top-hatted figure bent over the newsstand behind [them]," . . . is one of Bonnard's "most audacious graphic designs" (Ives p. 105ff).
