Color offset lithograph with additions in watercolor, gouache and pencil by the artist, circa 1940. 430x466 mm; 16⅞x18⅜ inches, full margins. With— Interieur (L'Atelier d'artiste), color offset lithograph, circa 1940. Signed by Bonnard and numbered 44/250 in pencil, lower margin.

Exhibited: (proof impression) "Bonnard at Le Bosquet," Hayward Gallery, London, June 23-August 29, 1994, Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, September 9-October 30, 1994, number 53, with the label (illustrated).

The current work was originally intended as part of a collaborative series with Jacques Villon and is based on the gouache work, in the collection of Yale University, of Bonnard's (1867-1947) studio interior at Le Bosquet. Bonnard and Villon collaborated on a series of color lithographs, 10 lithographies de Pierre Bonnard, based on Bonnard's gouaches, from 1942-46 (see Bouvet 116-126).
