PIERRE BONNARD
La Seine a Vernon.

Pencil on cream wove paper, circa 1916. 125x162 mm; 5x6 1/2 inches.

Ex-collection Gallery 609, Denver, with the label on the frame back.

Bonnard (1867-1947) settled in Vernon, in a house he called Ma Roulotte (My Gypsy Caravan), for 16 years beginning in 1910. There he was close to the elderly Claude Monet, who lived only a couple miles away at Giverny, and the two artists became close friends.
