Commarmond was a painter who is best remembered for his plethora of colorful, gently-stylized travel posters designed for the French railways in the 1920s and 30s. His combination of realistic detail, graphic embellishment and bright palette help place his work on par with that of Roger Broders and Roger Soubie. After the Second World War he became the director of the Chaix printing house. Hillion p. 48, Pyrenees p. 107.
