PIERRE DALTOUR. 1928.

Pierre Daltour became a star in 1924 with Roger Lion's film, J'ai tué [I Have Killed]. Monsieur Legrain Chez les Fous [Mister Legrain in the Mad House] a drama in 3 acts written by and starring Daltour, opened on May 31, 1928 at the Theatre de la Renaissance. Although the play was not a success, it certainly provided Colin the opportunity to design an excellent poster. The white image of a struggling man with his hands tied behind his back stands out starkly against the black background where a laughing lunatic behind bars and naked woman are silhouetted. This dramatic color and detail contrast, combined with the tantalizing and horrifying visions, are clearly part of the plot. Colin, with his incredibly flexible talent, takes the viewer straight into the atmosphere of the play. Previously unrecorded.
