PIERRE MILAN (after Rosso Fiorentino)
The Three Fates Costume Designs.

Engraving, circa 1535. 263x427 mm; 10 3/8x16 3/4 inches. With thread margins or trimmed inside the plate mark, the blank upper left corner trimmed. A superb, richly-inked impression of this extremely scarce engraving.

Milan (active 1530s-40s) was a French engraver working in Paris, who was associated with the School of Fontainebleau. He made a number of engravings after the designs of the Italian Mannerist painter Rosso Fiorentino (1494-1540). The current engraving was likely based on a costume design by Rosso for a masquerade ball held at the court of François I. Zerner 3.
