PIERRE MILAN (after Rosso Fiorentino)
The Three Fates.

Engraving, circa 1530s. 242x165 mm; 9 1/4x6 1/2 inches. Small crowned coat-of-arms with interlaced letters JM watermark (similar to Briquet 9494-9498, which dates from circa 1522-48). Trimmed on or just inside the plate plate. A very good impression of this extremely scarce engraving.

Formerly attributed to René Boyvin (1525–1598), this engraving is now considered to be the work of Milan (active circa 1540s-50s); both artists were active with the decoration of Fountainebleau during the first half of the 1500s. Robert-Dumesnil 31 (as Boyvin).
