Color pastels on light gray wove paper, 1903. 390x281 mm; 15 1/2x11 1/8 inches. Signed in white ink, lower left recto.

Prins was a Parisian painter, sculptor and printmaker who was associated with Édouard Manet and also the Impressionists. His sister, Pauline, was a close friend of Manet's wife, Suzanne Leenhoff, and was painted by Manet as the figure at the far right in his oil Le Balcon, 1868-69, now in the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.
