The Amphicar was manufactured in West Germany from 1961 until 1965. The now cult-classic car was a commercial flop; only 3878 were ever built, the majority of which were sold in America. Perhaps the vehicle's most enduring claim to history is that one was owned and enjoyed by U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.
