POTTER ILLUSTRATION DRAWN ON HER BIRTHDAY POTTER, BEATRIX. Original ink drawing and a signed card. Drawing is of a mother sheep and her lamb greeting a duckling. Pencil and ink on tan wove paper, signed in full and dated July 28, 1924, also ink, 189x125 mm (frame); plain black wooden frame with original owner's note on back (thus unexamined out of frame). Greeting card is 8vo, folding, with printed image of Jemima Puddle Duck on cover and captioned illustration of Jemima, Peter Rabbit, and Tom Kitten inside. Addressed to same recipient as drawing (Mary F. Gill), signed by Potter, and dated "New Year 1935 / with all good wishes to all at Milton." (Westmoreland, 1924), 1935

Additional Details

Charming illustration by Potter created on her 58th birthday. The owner's pencil note states: "Original drawing by Beatrix Potter given to us by her on her 58th birthday in her home in Sawrey Westmoreland, England July 1924." A later gift inscription by that owner, dated 1943, in ink, appears above it.
