This mock-up features an early cover choice for Prince''s artist''s book, which was produced while he was artist-in-residence at CEPA Gallery. Prince writes in his inscription, "This cover got bumped at the last minute/ Anyway--good luck in your new job and all that stuff! / Richard).
In its final form the publication was retitled "Menthol Pictures"; the cover featured three reproductions of Prince''s photographs. The book contains three short texts by Prince entitled "War Picture," "Horror Picture," and "Sex Picture."
