inscribed and signed by pyle to field with a small ink sketch of a man in a tri-cornered hat, under his frontispiece, dated 1903. Pyle contributed the second of three essays in the book: "Concerning the Art of Illustration." President of The Bibliophile Society, Nathan Haskell Dole, inscribed and signed his essay "The Revival of Old Authors" to Field "Here in your own pleasant den" dated November 19, 1905, from Chicago. Field himself contributed the third article in the work, "Bibliomania," and signed and dated it "Cambridge 1901."
