First edition in French, two folio volumes bound as one; woodcut printer's mark to both title pages; bound in full 17th century mottled calf with worn gilt spine, later pastedowns and flyleaves; first title and following two leaves creased and detached, some discoloration to first title; other stains to a few scattered places in the text; minor marginal worming; final leaf in second part blank & present; 13 x 8 1/4 in.

The present work is the last in the Palmermin d'Oliva story cycle. Originally composed in the Portuguese in the mid-16th century it was translated into Spanish and French. It was a favorite of Cervantes's and praised in Don Quixote.
