Signed January 14, 1871; bound in full contemporary pebbled navy morocco over beveled boards, gilt extra; with Grant's note tipped between endleaves in volume one; illustrated throughout, the censored bathing plate present, lacking three hand-colored natural history plates (one bird, one fish, one shells), with two duplicate copies of fish plate XII, the set consisting of four large quarto volumes in uniform deluxe bindings, aeg, (extremities rubbed, joint repair to volume one, other surface wear), 11 x 8 1/2 in.
