Pettycoat, enhanced by a Hirschfeld drawing. The drawing approximately 41/2x12 inches, in red ink along the inside hem. At a 1954 New Year's party at the Hirschfeld home, the actress Joan Castle was wearing a red satin Dior gown with a pettycoat. Well after the witching hour, Hirschfeld ended up alone with 2 women, Joan and his wife Dolly, and sitting at their feet. He noted the pettycoat, and asked how it was constructed. When he found out that it was lined with paper, he called out "get me a pen". The rest is history..
