Additional Details

An unusual "colored" regimental history. Signed by over 100 members of the infantry. Harry L. Park's copy with a presentation to Emma Tigglers, presumably a sweetheart. The 372nd Infantry had been the first all "Negro" unit in the New Jersey National Guard. They were called to active duty at Fort Dix in March 1941. Noted painters Romare Bearden and Charles Alston were members of this regiment, joining it later in the war.<
