First printed appearance of "The Pit and the Pendulum," two octavo volumes, one in full calf ornately decorated in gilt and customized with initials on front board, all edges gilt; the other copy in full publisher's tan cloth tooled in blind with central spray of flowers on front board in gilt, all edges gilt; both copies with staining, engraved title pages only, and other condition issues; each 7 1/4 x 4 1/2 in.
