The Pontifical College for the Propagation of the Faith was established by Pope Urban VIII in 1627 to train Catholic missionaries. It was an international school from its inception, hosting students from Armenia, Holland, Greece, Germany, Syria, India, Ethiopia, Iran, and the Spanish New World colonies.
