Quadrille and Fanny.
Pen and Ink on board, showing scenes from 2 plays. 15x26 inches. Signed Hirschfeld Boston lower right. 1954.
Beneath the drawings Hirschfeld has written captions identifying Brian Aherne, Edna Best, Alfred Lunt, Lynn Fontane, and beneath the captions, "The locale for both plays is the south of France - Marseilles for "Fanny" and St Guillaume des Fleurs for "Quadrille" extreme opposite ends of the social scale are depicted in the comedies."
"William Tabbert, Walter Slezak, Florence Henderson, and Ezio Pinza add music to Marcel Pagnol's classic Cesar trilogy. Music and lyrics by Harold Rome. Reviewing this drawing I am overwhelmed at having captured Slezak so accurately." HOL/136
