First edition, first issue, octavo, inscribed by Hall to Scottish author Robert Cunninghame-Graham in black ink on the half title, with three instances of penciled corrections potentially in Hall's hand on pp. 33, 50, and 241; bound in black publisher's cloth, gilt stamped spine, top edge tinted with black (lacking original dust-jacket; sporadic minor closed tears to margins, occasional spots and stains; hinges cracked, joints tender, extremities bumped); contained in a custom blue cloth clamshell box; 8 5/8 x 5 3/4 in.
