RAFAEL TUFINO
Figuras Sentadas ante el Mar.

Tufino (1922-2008) was a central figure in the Puerto Rican arts community. He studied art in Mexico at the Academia de San Carlos and lived with his family in New York before returning to Puerto Rico in 1950 and co-founding the Centro de Arte Puertorriqueño. He returned to New York in 1970 to continue his career as an artist and became involved with a Puerto Rican group that played a major role in the founding of El Museo del Barrio in New York.
