The present owners acquired these photographs directly from Ralph Steiner after working with him in 1977 to create printed pieces for the portfolio Ten Photographs from the Twenties and Thirties & One From the Seventies. There were two sheets included in each portfolio: a biography by Williard Van Dyke and descriptions of each of the 11 photographs.
