Ray Metzker's Pictus Interruptus series, made between 1976 and 1981, offers us puzzling urban images. By mixing in-focus and out-of-focus components and by adding elements in front of the lens, Metzker abstracts the urban landscape to such an extent that it elevates our conventional vision of street photography.
