Although he was active as a poster designer throughout his life, Raymond Gid was also known as a book designer and a master French typographer. In the 1930s, Gid was involved in ethnography, and as a member of the "Society of French Explorers," he took part in a four month mission to Northern Canada to study the indigenous peoples. Soon after, he designed several posters for the Ethnographic Museum in Paris. Fittingly, in 1953, he was called to design this poster for dance performances by the Crow Nation of the Rocky Mountains - incorporating typography on a black background, with the figure of a chief, characterized only by the outlines of his feathered headdress and a tomahawk. rare. Raymond Gid p. 103.
