A Man Making Water.

Etching, 1631. 90x53 mm; 3 3/8x2 inches, thread margins. Ex-collection Gustav Friedrich Konstantin Parthey (Lugt 2014, verso); George Biörklund, author of the catalogue raisonné of Rembrandt's etchings (Lugt 1138c, verso); and Walter J. Johnson, his sale Christie's, New York, May 13, 1997, lot 53. A superb, well-inked and early impression of this extremely scarce etching, with little to no sign of wear.

According to Usticke, "Very rare" (RRR). We have found only approximately 12 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years. Bartsch 190; Biörklund 31-C; Hollstein (White and Boon) 190.
