Etching, engraving and drypoint on thin India paper, circa 1643-49. 278x190 mm; 11x7½ inches, small margins. Biörklund's third state (of 3); Usticke's sixth state (of 6); White and Boon's second state (of 2), after the Captain Baillie rework and the plate was cut down into 4 separate pieces. A very good, dark impression.
This is the central portion of the original plate (see lot for the complete subject). Baillie acquired the plate around 1775 and, after reworking it and printing proofs of the entire subject, cut it down into 4 separate pieces to produce the current work.
