REMBRANDT VAN RIJN
Saskia with Pearls in her Hair.

Etching, 1634. 84x67 mm; 3 3/8x2 3/4 inches, thread margins. Biörklund's second state (of 2); Usticke's first state (of 2), with the outline of the nose still broken in places; White and Boon's second state (of 2). A superb, richly-inked and early impression of this extremely scarce etching, with all the fine details distinct, no sign of wear and partially inky plate edges, consistent with the earliest impressions of this subject.

Provenance: A. C. de Poggi, London and Paris (Lugt 617, verso); David Tunick, Inc., New York.

We have found fewer than 20 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years. Bartsch 347; Biörklund 34-C; Hollstein (White and Boon) 347.
