Etching and drypoint, circa 1642. 62x51 mm; 2 1/2x2 inches, narrow to thread margins. A delicately-printed impression of this extremely scarce print.

The sitter is purportedly the artist's wife, Saskia, who died at the age of 30 in 1642.

According to Usticke, "An extremely rare, delicate study (RRR+)." We have found only 9 other impressions at auction in the past 20 years; the last impression sold at Swann, October 31, 2006, sale 2091, lot 74. Bartsch 359; Biörklund 42-4; Hollstein (White and Boon) 359.
