Etching, 1636. 153x125 mm; 6x4 7/8 inches, narrow thread margins. Usticke's first state (of 2), before the horizontal scratches between the head of the man with the turban and Saskia's head. The lower portion, with the three balls, of a Foolscap watermark. A brilliant, richly-inked and early impression with all the fine lines distinct and with no sign of wear, with crisp, partially inky plate edges, consistent with the earliest impressions of this subject.
