REMBRANDT VAN RIJN
The Artist's Mother Seated, in Widow's Dress and Black Gloves<>.

Etching and drypoint, circa 1632. 152x120 mm; 6x4 3/4 inches, small margins. Usticke's first state (of 3). A superb, dark and evenly printed impression of this usually uneven print, with the thumb above the signature printing strongly and with very little to no wear in the most densely cross-hatched passages.

Though accepted by Bartsch and others, this work is rejected by some, including Biörklund. Bartsch 344.
