Basilisk watermark with the initials "RP" (Ash/Fletcher 12A.a, which they date to circa 1630 and note for early impressions of Rembrandt's etchings). A superb impression with strong contrasts, with all the details distinct and with traces of burr in the foliage and foreground, consistent with the earliest impressions of this subject.
