Etching, engraving and drypoint, circa 1632. 371x258 mm; 14 5/8x10 1/8 inches, narrow to thread margins. Biörklund's seventh state (of 9); Usticke's third state (of 10); White and Boon's eighth state (of 10), before any rework. Strasburg Lily with the number 4 and letters WR watermark and the letters I H S counter mark (Ash/Fletcher 36 A c; Ash/Fletcher cite an impression of the the same subject in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, with an identical watermark). A very good, dark and evenly-printed impression with strong contrasts and very little wear.

According to Usticke, his third state of this subject is now "the earliest state now seen in commerce." Bartsch 73; Biörklund 32-4; Hollstein (White and Boon) 73.
