FROM THE HANSEN COLLECTION REMBRANDT VAN RIJN
The Return of the Prodigal Son.

Etching, 1636. 158x131 mm; 61/4x51/4 inches, thread margins. Usticke's first state (i) (of 4), with faint traces of the lines which were burnished out in the triangular space below the son's right leg, with no wear in the dark space to the right of the son's nose and with the full boot of the figure on the step at the right printing. Ex-collection Frederik Ferdinand Hansen (Lugt 2813, verso). A very good, dark and evenly printed impression overall with strong contrasts. Bartsch 91; Biörklund 36-D; Hollstein (White and Boon) 91.
