Etching, 1637. 142x96 mm; 5 5/8x3 3/4 inches. Usticke's first state (of 3), with the horizontal scratch lower center printing strongly and before the rework to the letter R in the signature and to the worn spots in the densely cross-hatched shadows. Arms-of-Amsterdam watermark. Ex-collection August Artaria (Lugt 33, verso) and the Albertina, Vienna, ink stamp verso (see Lugt supplement 5d). Trimmed on the plate mark, still with deposits of ink from the inky plate edges. A very good, evenly printed and early impression. Bartsch 368; Biörklund 37-D; Hollstein (White and Boon) 368.
