Bronze with dark brown patina, 1978. 290x290x145 mm; 11 1/2x11 1/2x5 3/4 inches (excluding wood base). Incised with the artist's signature, dated and numbered 2/7 near the base. Cast by the Renaissance Art Foundry, Bridgeport, CT, with the incised name near the base.
Nakian (1897-1986) often depicted classical mythology in his abstracted sculptures, and returned to the theme of Leda and the Swan repeatedly (see following lot).
